Chloe Menage is a UK-based designer who creates vibrant and whimsical beadwoven designs in a riot of colours. As an experienced jewellery designer, Chloe has been a Guest Designer on the JewelleryMaker shopping channel and was previously editor of popular publication Bead & Jewellery magazine. She has been teaching her colourful projects for more than 15 years and regularly teaches beading workshops at craft shops and arts venues around the UK and beyond – as well as virtually from her home studio.

Lovely Lockets Workshop

In this innovative beading workshop we will explore the delight of beaded lockets. Based on my popular beaded locket patterns, this class is the ultimate exploration of the possibilities offered by these keepsakes.

The lockets use peyote stitch as their base and in the class I will help you design and create your own unique beaded locket with added embellishment, hinges and a clasp.

You’ll need an 18mm × 25mm cabochon, (or photo and acetate), Delica beads and a selection of other beads to embellish. Come armed with ideas and inspiration and I’ll help you design and bring to life your perfect beaded locket keepsake.

A knowledge of peyote stitch is recommended for this class and a little experience of bezelling cabochons would be helpful but not essential.

I will have a selection of my handmade ‘literary’ cabochons available to purchase on the day, should you wish to.

Please bring a packed lunch.

Workshop Materials List:

•1 × 18mm × 25mm oval glass cabochon or acetate/photo (see above)

•Size 11/0 Miyuki Delicas in colour,
2 colours

• Size 11/0 Miyuki seed beads

• Size 8/0 Miyuki or Toho seed beads

• Size 15/0 Miyuki seed beads in colour 1

• 1 × 3–5mm bead for clasp or tiny button e.g. Crystalett

• A selection of beads or charms for embellishment.

Tools & Thread

• 2 × size 12 beading needle

• Small sharp scissors

• Synthetic wax

• Toning beading thread (One-G, KO, SoNo, Miyuki or FireLine)
