The Bead Society of Great Britain, (formed in September 1989), is a subscription-based, non-profitmaking, non-commercial venture run by a permanent Team who work voluntarily.

The Society is open to all those who have an appreciation, either private or professional, of beads ancient and modern, of all shapes, sizes, materials and colours; their techniques of manufacture, and their application.

The aim of our Society is to encourage and share knowledge and enjoyment of every type of bead, to improve the accuracy of information and the skills of making, using, caring for and collecting beads, together with the understanding of the many peoples for whom beads are so important in their lives.

Members receive four issues per year of the highly-acclaimed Bead Society Journal , a colourful and informative journal packed with articles (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter editions).

The annual subscription costs £12.00 per family (at one UK address), or £20.00 for overseas address. For Euro-zone the cost is 25 Euros and for USA $35.00. Click here for more details and an application form.

The Society currently holds four-five meetings each year - two-three lectures/workshops, an AGM and a Bead Fair. We have a varied programme of courses, lectures and meetings, most are FREE to members.

Members also receive FREE admission to the Society's Annual Bead Fair, and discounted entry to fairs organised by the Craft Kit Company Ltd and BeadsupNorth. For more details vist the Beadwork Fair and BeadsupNorth websites.

The Society numbers among its members private collectors, researchers, dealers, jewellery makers, bead embroiderers, beadwork weavers (on- and off-loom), makers of beads, and many others - so there's a place for everyone!
